What was built.
The problem.
Healthcare professionals spend a disproportionate amount of time on documentation — writing up session notes, managing client records, and producing compliant reports — time that could be spent with clients. Wellaware identified an opportunity to solve this problem specifically for the South African market, where POPIA compliance adds an additional layer of complexity. The challenge was to build a production-quality, secure, and intuitive platform rapidly, without a traditional development team or a lengthy build cycle.
How it was solved.
Using Lovable, an AI-powered app builder, I designed and developed NoteWell — a full practice management platform purpose-built for therapists, counsellors, and healthcare professionals. The platform enables practitioners to capture session notes via voice recording, image capture, or rich text, with AI transcribing and organising everything automatically. Client profiles are managed securely in one place, smart document imports auto-fill intake forms, and professionally branded PDF reports — complete with the practitioner's logo and signature — can be generated and exported for clients or compliance audits. Security was built in from the ground up, with AES-256 field-level encryption, POPIA-compliant data storage, and strict row-level access controls ensuring complete data privacy. The platform is fully responsive and works across any device.
What it achieved.
NoteWell is currently in active beta with 30 healthcare professionals across South Africa, delivering a documented saving of 5+ hours per week on documentation per user. The platform has validated strong product-market fit ahead of a full public launch, and demonstrates what's possible when AI-assisted development tools are used with genuine product thinking — taking NoteWell from concept to a credible, compliant, market-ready SaaS product.
