Wellaware

What was built.
The problem.
Every developer has a tough client story. Mine lives with me. Wellaware's founder had a clear vision, sky-high standards, and a refreshingly low tolerance for compromise — which meant "good enough" was never going to cut it. The challenge wasn't just building a great website; it was building one that could run a real business, handle bookings seamlessly, process payments securely, and still pass the most rigorous QA process I've ever faced across a dinner table.
How it was solved.
With full creative scope and absolutely no room for excuses, I designed and developed the site from scratch using WordPress and Elementor, with WooCommerce and Payfast handling payments and a custom Google Calendar integration powering the booking experience. Where opinions clashed — and they did — I leaned on a data-driven approach to resolve differences objectively. Yoast SEO was woven throughout to give the new business the best possible start in search. The result was a platform built to grow, without needing a developer on speed dial to keep it running.
What it achieved.
Wellaware launched successfully, giving South African clients accessible access to quality mental health support online. The platform created real employment opportunities for counsellors, and the business hit the ground running. Most importantly, my wife is still my wife — so by any metric, this project was a success.
